Advance Scene Study

Service Description

This weekly class is designed for advanced adult actors, particularly those already working in the film industry, who want to deepen their craft through intensive scene study, script analysis and regular practical application. A self-tape audition is required to be considered for this class. (Script will be provided upon registration.) Drawing from the techniques and disciplines of some of the great modern practitioners, the class focuses on unpacking the layers within each script, developing fully realised characters, and making bold, truthful and specific choices. Actors will work on creating performances with hunger, immediacy and connection while developing the ability to respond instinctively and authentically within a scene. To get the most out of the class, students are expected to arrive with scripts fully prepared and off-book. Entering the classroom ready to work allows scenes to be properly explored and workshopped, risks to be taken, and new discoveries to be made within the material, rather than time being spent on line learning. Students will be assigned new scenes and partners every two to three weeks, providing the opportunity to work across different relationships, characters and material. Only actors with a strong work ethic, commitment to preparation and openness to collaboration are encouraged to apply.
